1:1 Reading Intervention

Individualized, prescriptive reading instruction designed to close the gaps for struggling readers or set up young students for a lifetime of success with reading. Each student will be taught using multi-sensory strategies from the Orton Gillingham approach and Lindamood-Bell's Seeing Stars and Visualizing & Verbalizing Programs. Students will build their confidence and love for reading one session at a time. Movement and games are incorporated to keep sessions active, motivating and fun. Sessions take place in-person at the Sage Literacy office.

What's included:

  • Weekly 50-minute tutoring sessions offered in packages of 1-3 sessions per week
  • Progress reports every 9 weeks and a 20-minute session to discuss progress with families
  • Complimentary IEP consultation and advocacy
  • Supplementary materials for practice in between sessions, as needed

Reading and Literacy Assessment

2-hour comprehensive reading assessment (completed over multiple sessions, if needed) analyzing all areas of reading including phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary and spelling. This assessment will be used to inform the individualized instruction students can receive in one-on-one tutoring.

What's included:

  • Assessment report for families detailing the child's strengths and deficit areas
  • 30-minute follow-up with families to go over the report and discuss an intervention plan
  • After the initial assessment, students actively enrolled in tutoring can receive a follow-up assessment every 8 months for the normal cost of a tutoring session
